I've got too much on my plate, and when I'm feeling uninspired or just plain bored, I do the unthinkable—I start something new. Instagram, ebooks, copy batches, workshops, a t-shirt business, and of course, this newsletter. It's like my brain's default setting is "Add More."
What you’re going to be reading ahead is an open letter I’m writing to my future self, as a person who’s realised that she’s 27 now and much closer to her 30s, trying to figure sh*t out. I’m just giving you a ticket to this show, and you’re free to take away whatever you want from it.
Alright, future (or past) me,
Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? Remember that Instagram account you started on a whim? The one you thought was just another drop in the social media ocean? Well, turns out, it became a canvas for unexpected connections. It’s been about showing up, talking about everything advertising and content, building communities, and teaching what you know to people who want to learn. People engaged, and suddenly it wasn't just about your ads—it was about creating a community.
Then there's the ebook escapade. The late nights, the countless edits, the moments you almost gave up because the words seemed to rebel against the page. But guess what? It became more than just a book; it became a journey—a testament to persistence.
And oh, the copy batches. The ones where every session felt like a hangout with familiar friends. Those batches weren't just about selling; they were about working through crap together, connecting on a much deeper level, going through layoffs and promotions in a group of 40 instead of sitting on it all by yourself.
Workshops too, were an adventure. Sure, there were hiccups and tech glitches, but every participant's aha moment made it worthwhile. You taught, you learned, and you discovered the joy of creating a space for shared growth. You had fun, people have fun. You taught them, they taught you and you ended up making connections that have stood the test of time. You’ve worked on projects together, seen them come back for more, and share more. You know them as more than students now, you know them as people.
Now, the T-shirt business, the unexpected wildcard. Who knew a simple idea could turn into a wearable form of expression? I know that it hit a block, but it’s still made its way to your to-do list, and you and I both know that we’ll get through it. We still have to paste the picture of the first purchase in the bucket list journal, remember?
This newsletter, our little virtual rendezvous, has been a ride. Remember the time you wondered if anyone cared about your musings? Well, turns out, they did. The "send" button became a portal to conversations, shared experiences, and unexpected connections. You haven’t been regular but hey, we’re trying.
So, dear Pranita,
Those moments when the plate seems ready to collapse are the ones where the real magic happens. Sure, there will be days when crickets are your only audience, but remember, every masterpiece started as a blank canvas.
Enjoy the victories, big and small. Your plate might be full, but those flavors are what make the journey worthwhile. And when the challenges hit hard, don't be too tough on yourself. You're not just building projects; you're building resilience, character, and a treasure of stories.
It's okay to drop a few plates now and then. Learn, laugh, and let go.
To more chaos, victories, and a plate full of awesomeness,
Until next time,
Mad Ad Woman
